BOMB(ay) SHUNS MUM(bai)

Yesterday was a regular day at our hostel. We were just back from the college, had dinner and were winding out in our rooms. At 10.30 sharp we heard a bang. It was so powerful and scaring that all the hostelites came in the galleries to see what happened. But everyone was clueless. Suddenly all of us started getting calls from our relatives telling us about the blasts and firings happening in the same area of our hostel.
We had read and watched about the terrror attacks in hyderabad, ahamdabad, malegav even in mumbai but never heard the real bangs. Never felt the terror so closely. The trident hotel which is now in the sieze of terrorists is just 500 meters from our hostel. Its the exact figure as I see the markings of distances on the pavements of marine drive everyday when I go for jogging. I pass by the hotel everyday ignoring its lavishness. Next time, I can't. Atleast for next few days looking at those broken window glasses, my mind will imagine the screaming of people, the uncontolled firing, the grenads being exploded, the blood being spilt...
Even now when I am writing this blog I can hear the explosions of grenads. Even though I put hands on my ears I cant stop hearing the screams of the people.
The question is 'Why?'

If we see the places where the attacks are done, these are the prime areas in south mumbai where the corporate meetings and dinners happen. The top management team of HUL including Global CEO, MD was having dinner in Taj hotel. If the terrorists wanted they could have made bomb blasts in crowded areas like locals and stations but they specifically targeted these lavish hotels. This is to create terror in the minds of foreign companies who are one of the agents to pump Indian economy. Terrorists knew that even if they were able to kill 300, 400 people in blasts; Mumbai will forget this incident and will be normal the next day as happened on 7/11. They wanted the impact to be sustained and a long term. They have already killed foreign citizens. Now deligates will fear of coming to India. The image of India being safe country will be tarnished impacting directly on the economy.

Till the terrorists in the hotels are killed or arrested, till everything comes to the normal, we are advised to remain in the hostels.
